Background  |  Treatment  |  Fees  |  Patient Outcome  |

Patient was referred to a maxillofacial surgeon who used bone from the patient’s hip to perform a bilateral sinus lift (fill the maxillary sinus spaces with graft bone from the patient’s own hip) and a block bone graft to perform a bilateral nasal lift. This is a block of bone to rebuild bone below the nasal floor and in this case was held on by titanium screws during the healing phase. The bone block was obtained from the cranium.

Six months healing was allowed for bone graft healing prior to the placement of eight Brånemark System dental implants. The graft bone was a soft type three / type four bone.

As there is a fifteen to twenty percent implant failure rate in maxillary graft bone we have placed two extra fixtures over and above the usual six fixtures normally required to support a full maxillary hybrid prosthesis.

One right-side fixture did fail at second stage, which was eight months after placement.

The patient was ultimately issued with a full hybrid prosthesis supported by seven implants.
